The winners for the third theme (My Space) of AsiaOne's 'This Is Me' contest are out and it was a tough call for our judges in the vodcast category because some entries were done with much heart and effort!
Joan Teo, 23, an admin temp, walks away with her coveted 30G iPod for her quaintly produced vodcast. For Joan, her 'space' was the rustic quiet of Pasir Ris park, a place she frequents for some quality time of self-contemplation.
"I go there sometimes with my brother but also for the Nature and when I need to be alone," says Joan. "It helps to lift my mood," she explains.
When asked how she felt about her winning entry, she says: "I'm quite proud of the package because I put in a lot of effort," citing the narration, fade-ins/ outs, and text incorporated into her vodcast.
Most notable in her submission was the poem she narrated for the video. Joan says it was self-penned and just one of the many she likes to write.
"My video shows the contrast between being happy and sad," describes Joan on the gamut of emotions she experiences at her personal space.
For this aspiring movie-maker cum poet, the peaceful lull and scenery of the beach at the park was her 'space' and her inspiration.
In the podcast category, Hannah, 13, and friends won it with their candid banter and pyjama-party-like rendition of their 'Teen Audio Show'.
Worth an honourable mention was a heart-warming clip by Natthawut Hiranyasoot, showing his well-documented journey of his upbringing at a Thai home-stay where he learnt English.
