Built to suit budget and own preference

To keep the home safe, many are now looking for home security solutions. But not all solutions suit the budget, not to mention the issue of price without compromising quality. This is where customised home security solutions provider My-Security-at-Home.com (MSAH), a division of Emanz Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, comes in.

"A security solution should be a prerequisite before anyone moves into his home. It shouldn't be an after-thought as safety of the family should be priority and never compromised," says company managing director Mohd Zaidi Tajudin.

Once engaged by a client, MSAH will assess the type of protection needed through discussion and site visits. Then the company will present a proposal, followed by another discussion to determine the home security system to be installed.

"Our home security solutions come in three tiers: low-end, middle and high-end. Investment is one-off with a one-year warranty, and there are no monthly fees. For DIY (do-it-yourself) products, pricing begins from $230; total consultation and installation at the low end begins at $315," Mohd Zaidi says.

For the low-end tier, the client will get a system based on Millenium 3, a product by French company Crouzet but locally manufactured. As a wireless burglar alarm product, the client will get two remote sensors, two wireless gap detectors and a wireless motion detector. These will come in handy during installation as no wiring is needed.

The wireless network between the control unit and sensors uses radio frequency technology. And the base unit comes with an adjustable antenna with an operational range of within 50 metres.

Once the burglar alarm is triggered, the control unit will send a voice message to five numbers, which can be programmed by the client according to priority order. A voice message also can be programmed to be used during alerts.

Mohd Zaidi points out that the client can monitor and control the alarm unit through a fixed phone line. By dialling the fixed line, the client can arm or disarm the alarm by providing a passkey. A speaker will output a 110-decibel siren alarm.

"The system is operated by a 24-volt DC adapter. Two AAA batteries will be used as backup during any power failure. So, the system will operate even if there is a power failure," he explains.

For the middle tier, pricing starts from $1,050. The burglar alarm product has a built-in global system for mobile communications (GSM) module. The client can programme the burglar alarm controller with an option to enable or disable the alarm of any "zone" of the house on the fly. (Zone refers to an entry point such as the door, sliding door, window and manhole.)

Once the burglar alarm is triggered, the control unit will send a text message to up to 20 numbers.

"Clients also can verify false alarm status when dialling the GSM module. Best of all, clients will have the opportunity to design their own home security system based on individual preference," Mohd Zaidi says.

For the high-end tier, with pricing starting from $2,300, the client will get a home security system that can be integrated with other applications, resulting in residential automation in which the client can monitor and control any household gadget from a remote location through a handphone. This can be anything from lighting and air-conditioning to controlling the water pumps, sprinkler system, surveillance system and automatic gate.
