Gift #1: Create a customized DVD
A customized DVD that captures your favourite moments with your girlfriend is a simple yet heartfelt gift.
Windows DVD Maker is amazing software built right in to Windows Vista and enables you to create professional-looking video DVDs of your home movies and photos that can be viewed on DVD pla yers, regardless of geographical region codes. Throw in a soundtrack of your favourite 'together' song for a truly memorable gift. null
The only cost to you is your time, the price of a blank DVD and some wrapping paper (optional!).
Here are some simple, step by step instructions for making your gift.
1. To start, insert a blank DVD (or rewritable DVD) into your DVD burner.
2. Launch Windows DVD Maker (click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows DVD Maker). If this is the first time launching Windows DVD Maker, you will be greeted with the initial welcome screen, shown below.
3. Press the "Choose Pictures and Videos" button to go to the main project window, where you can add the video and picture elements to your DVD.
4. To add photos or video to your DVD project, click the Add Items button. Clicking the Add Items button will open and you can browse to the items that you would like to add.
5. By clicking on Options from the main DVD project window you will be able to choose how the DVD is played back (whether it starts automatically when it's in the player, whether you want it on a continuous loop, etc.).
6.Now you're ready to burn your DVD! You could simply press Start Burn, but if you want to really personalize the disc, Windows DVD Maker gives you plenty of options!
7. One of the best ways to get an idea of what the final DVD will look like, and to get ideas for things to customize, is to see a preview. You can do this by pressing the Preview button.
8. When you have finished testing the DVD preview out, press OK. You will be returned to the Burn Disc screen where you can improve your DVD (and test again) before burning the final disc.
9. To add a song, click the Add Music button, select the song in the Add Music to Slide Show dialog box, and then click the Add button.
