Ready, steady, GO!

The PC Show, held annually in June, is organised by Lines Exposition and Management Services.

The event's project manager, Ms Gillian Loh, provides some updates.

How big a crowd and how much in sales are you expecting to pull in this year?

Last year, we attracted more than 800,000 visitors and earned more than $20 million in sales. This year, total sales for the four-day event are expected to reach a new record of $25 million.

How many floors and how much floor space are you occupying this year?

Similar to last year's event. This year's show occupies Halls 601 to 603 at the Suntec City Convention Centre, with floor space totalling 10,600 sq m.

What hot new products can visitors expect to see?

Many companies, including big names such as Seagate, Siemens, HP and Canon, are launching new products.

The line-up of new products includes everything from digital photo frames tolaptops with Intel's new Santa Rosa chip.

What special treats are in store forgamers?

Specially dedicated kiosks will be set up in booth 1724 (Bloompac International) for visitors and gamers to try their hands at Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

What cool new gadgets will local firms be promoting?

Check out the Kohjinsha Ultra Mobile Personal Computer, which has a 7-inch screen and fits into your purse or briefcase, or the Lesca RE i70 digital camera, with 3x optical zoom and a 3-inch screen.

Will there be lucky draws?

For every $50 spent, visitors are entitled to a lucky draw coupon. The draw will be conducted on June 3 at 9.30pm, on level 1 of the Suntec City Convention Centre. The top prize is $10,000 cash.

Other goodies include digital cameras, GPS systems and LCD monitors.

Any tips for those heading down to the PC Show?

Go early to avoid the crowds. More than 800,000 visitors thronged the PC Show last year! The halls are usually packed during peak hours and the weekends, so avoid the crowds by going early, or take a day off work and go on Friday.

Also, take public transport to the show. Traffic jams on roads leading to Suntec City will be long and slow, and the carparks are likely to be full.

Finally, be sufficiently armed with your credit cards but do not forget to bring along cash, as some booths do not accept payment by credit card or NETS.

Also, remember that sometimes cash will give you bargaining power.
