Sony gets bold, sexy and luxurious

Sony Singapore recently rolled out their 2007 summer notebook collection - the multi-coloured VAIO CR and the luxurious 10th anniversary special edition VAIO TZ, the first flash memory-based solid state disk notebook.

According to Sony, the new VAIO CR series "radiates individuality and personal style" in a bid to bring "more personality to personal computing".

The CR series is available in specially created colours of Blazing Red, Indigo Blue, Luxury Pink, Pure White and Black, complete with colour-coordinated carrying case, mouse and even matching wallpapers.

Design

Each VAIO CR notebook features an exterior that radiates a high-quality sheen - much like a carefully manicured nail or master crafted grand piano, possible only through a multi-coated process that uses extra colour layers to enhance lustre and depth of colour.

A luminous silver trim that wraps around the base unit that lights up and creates an illusion of a clutch bag, and an illumination LED that intuitively responds to your usage patterns ups the individuality of this notebook and sets it apart from the crowd.

VAIO TZ the epitome of mobile luxury

Specially created to commemorate VAIO's 10th anniversary, Sony's new luxury notebook series plays homage to signature technological and design elements from previous VAIO models.

Some of its specs include:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 1.20GHz processor
  • 11.1-inch TFT colour display (72% colour purity and enhanced brightness of up to 24%)
  • Flash memory-based solid state disk of 32GB in capacity
  • 0.3 megapixel MOTION EYE camera

  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 27.7 x 19.82 x 2.98cm
  • Boot-up time: 43 seconds
  • Battery life*:11.5 hours

According to Sony, the VAIO TZ's picture quality is close to that of a LCD TV, and at a reduced power consumption of 30%.

Other breakthroughs in the VAIO TZ include the patented keyboard panel construction.

The keyboard panel is unified with the notebook cabinet and this gives the notebook increased strength and durability. The use of carbon fibre reinforced plastics also enhances its robustness.

To enable the VAIO TZ to keep its display ultra-thin at 0.47cm, while incorporating a built-in camera at the same time, the series features an exclusively designed super thin camera module.

The VAIO TZ is available in Gold, Premium Carbon and Black.
