Singapore - Acme Mobile Pte Ltd recently announced the ten most popular mobile games downloaded across Southeast Asia in July 2007.
Led by the feature-film driven 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', EA Mobile's games again led this month's Top Ten list, with a total of 5 titles, including 'Need for Speed Carbon', 'The Sims 2', 'The Sims 2 Pets' and 'Bejeweled'.
The Amob.com Top Ten was compiled from full price game downloads sold by Acme Mobile during July 2007 via its Amob.com network of web and WAP sites across 6 Southeast Asian countries (www.amob.com and wap.amob.com).
The Amob.com July 2007 Top Ten Game List
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Need for Speed Carbon
The Sims 2
TMNT - Power of 4
The Sims 2 Pets
Black Hawk Down
Red Out Racer
Crash Bandicoot Minigames
Bejeweled
The Legend of Spyro
"Again, for the third month running, every game in our Top Ten list is a branded title," says Paul Meyers, Acme Mobile's CEO. "It's becoming pretty clear that branded titles are indeed selling better than non-branded ones; something of a difference from the beginning of the year where the list was pretty evenly split."
Vivendi Games Mobile's products showed their staying power, with 'Blackhawk Down', 'Crash Bandicoot Minigames' 'Crash Racing', 'The Legend of Spyro' for the fifth month running.
Uclick's 'TMNT - Power of 4' moved up one place to fourth again, for its fourth month on the list. In-Fusio's 'Red Out Racer' makes its debut at seventh, proving that 3D games can sell in the region.
"The good games - and the strong brands - are still attracting new buyers," says Meyers. "The longevity of many of these titles belies the conventional wisdom that a game only has a 3-month shelf life. Perhaps this is due to the relatively young Southeast Asian market or simply because they're good games. It will be an interesting trend to watch over the next few months."
