TELUK INTAN, MALAYSIA: The woman who denied owning a blog that insulted Prophet Muhammad should have acted more swiftly in removing the offensive content.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is in charge of Islamic affairs, said that she should have acted immediately when the blog's existence was allegedly uncovered several months ago.

On Sunday, it was reported that the woman, in her 20s, denied owning the blog and that it had been created to target her and her employer.

However, Dr Ahmad Zahid said the woman should take responsibility even if she had not been monitoring the content of the site.

"She should monitor her own blog. People are visiting it and she cannot put the blame on somebody else," he told reporters after launching the Batang Padang and Hilir Perak Federal Development Office here yesterday.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said police had identified several people who could be responsible for the blog.

He did not disclose details but said investigations were ongoing.

"We have a special team under the commercial crime director investigating the matter.

"And we are working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission," Ismail told reporters at the Northern Brigade General Operations Force in Ulu Kinta yesterday.

He said police also found out that the server used was located outside the country. --THE STAR
