Can one man stand a chance against an entire army of enemy soldiers? Yes, if you have technology on your side, and the support of some nasty military hardware. And if you're a computer game character of course.
About a year after it became one of the first games to debut on the Xbox 360 platform, high-tech soldier Scott Mitchell makes a comeback in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Graw 2).
And like the sequel of any good movie, the new game continues from the first, which ended after the rebel leader of a fictitious coup attempt in Mexico was killed. Now, Captain Mitchell and his team of we-don't-exist 'ghosts' have 72 hours to stop a legion of Mexican rebels from launching a nuclear missile into American soil.
The theatre of combat is similar to the first game - desert-like terrain, deserted towns - and there are air-to-ground attacks.
There are some upgrades in the new game. For instance, players have a wider choice of weapons. They can also choose to carry a second machine gun instead of just a pistol.
I particularly like the high-powered sniper rifle, which can penetrate walls and take out soldiers who huddle behind them. You can take along all the ammo to the battlefield with the help of an automated Humvee-like carrier.
It's easier to play Graw 2 because Captain Mitchell has seven lives here. One of his followers is a medic who can heal him instantly, saving players from restarting the mission regularly.
You will need these extra lives because the fighting is more intense than ever.
In some of the later missions, you will be given command of an M1 Abrams tank as well as a helicopter gunship to help you to pulverise the enemy strongholds one by one.
Here's the best part - players can switch their view to that of the tank commander or the helicopter pilot.
Overall, Graw 2, which costs $69.90, has excellent sound and graphics, solid gameplay and an intense storyline that keeps players engaged right till the end.
