TNP Cyber Challenge 2007 game showcase: Fight Night Round 3
WITH the PlayStation3 version of Fight Night Round 3, you can now get some in-your-face boxing action.
Fight Night is one of the three PS3 titles from Electronic Arts (EA) that will be played at the upcoming TNP Cyber Challenge from 14 to 17 June.
Exclusive to the PS3 version, EA developed the Get In The Ring mode which lets players eye their boxing opponent as they trade jabs and punches for the championship title.
From this point of view, gameplay literally changes as each blow connects with your face, calling for an immediate response from your end.
SWOLLEN EYE
Take too many hits and it'll will affect your ability to fight as the screen darkens in areas - mimicking a swollen eye. Or worse, the screen fills up in a sea of red, which is what you can expect from a bloody punch in the eye.
So forget all about the techniques or tactics you have mastered from previous fighting or boxing games because, for newcomers to this series, button mashing to beat your opponent won't get you anywhere.
Fight Night is known for its unique control scheme that uses the right thumbstick for executing punches.
Shove the stick in the direction of your opponent with the right circular motion to see those jabs and hooks fly.
Add to that the motion sensor of the PS3 Sixaxis controller to throw illegal blows and you just might have a fighting chance for the top prize at Cyber Challenge.
The game includes boxing greats such as Oscar de la Hoya and Muhammad Ali - each rendered in ultra-realistic high detail. But you'll see that and the look of defeat in their eyes if you knock them out.
