Bragging rights as the first affordable ultra-mobile laptop belong to the Asus Eee PC series.
Boy, did it take the PC market by storm when it made its debut last year (with the 4G model at $598). Since then, soup-ups have included larger screens, more powerful battery and the choice of going Windows XP instead of Linux.
The 1000H is the latest Eee PC incarnation and among the most powerful, so much so that you can almost consider it as a laptop with the works.
The trackpad is delightfully larger and it comes with a whopping 80GB of hard disk space, Windows XP, Intel Atom processor, a solid 1.3-megapixel camera, impressive speakers plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It's a tad heavy at 1.45kg though.
