Panasonic SDR-S7

Price: $599

This gizmo proves that videocams need not be big to be good.

It fits in the palm of your hand but the 165g device can handle way beyond shooting low-resolution videos that you'd post on YouTube.

The standard definition DVD-quality footage - in both the regular 4:3 or widescreen 16:9 formats - can be viewed nicely on any TV screen.

Two record buttons make for easy access whether you're gripping it and holding it up to your face, or sitting it in the palm of your hand for low shots.

Tweak it manually for aperture and focus if you want more control and when its SD or SDHC memory card is full, just run out and buy one.
