Canon's latest digital SLR, the 50D, has impressive features - 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 6.3 fps continuous shooting, an all-new Digic 4 processor, ISO 100-3200 (expandable to 12800), 9-point AF, Live View with a 3-inch LCD HDMI connection, and more.
The 50D clearly surpasses the specs of its predecessor, the 40D, and is even cheaper. But do higher specs lead to better pictures?
The verdict is not in yet but first impressions are that it is a faster camera and the body's grip has improved.
Picture sharpness and colour tones are excellent. More people, having had a taste of digital photography with their compact cameras, are looking to digital SLRs which have more features and take better pictures.
The 50D would certainly rank among the top choices.
