Canon Powershot SX1 IS

By Yeong Ah Seng

CANON'S latest digital camera, the Powershot SX1 IS, comes close to an SLR, both in terms of features and price

It has a 10-megapixel sensor, shoots four frames per second continuously, is able to perform full high-definition movie recording, and has a 20x zoom wide-angle lens.

It also offers full manual control and comes with a remote control for shooting and playback. The entire package is quite complete and also includes a lens hood.

But what about its performance?

In terms of picture quality, it is on par with digital SLRs, but lacks an SLR's speed.

However, it is a lighter and more compact camera, and the 20x zoom offered is quite impressive.

How much: $999
