Creative Inspire S2 speaker system

By Lim Yee Hung, a tech enthusiast currently studying in the United Kingdom

DO NOT be fooled by the small size of the Creative Inspire S2 sound system.

It has a compact subwoofer and two satellite speakers that are just slightly bigger than tennis balls but still manages to pack quite a punch when used in a small room.

The Inspire S2 system is targeted at those who work in cramped spaces and who use their PC or MP3 player to listen to music. Using the Winamp music program on my laptop, I started with country music from Taylor Swift's Fearless album.

Hits like Love Story and Our Song came out clear and full-bodied.

I then followed up with R&B music from assorted artists, such as Rihanna's Don't Stop The Music and Ne-Yo's Single, then some pop music from bands like the Backstreet Boys.

The speakers managed to reproduce an above-average level of bass - impressive given its size.

Even after I turned the volume up to the limit, the speakers did not sound strained.

However, these are no party speakers: the music lost considerable oomph when I set it up in the living room.
