Why no refund for magnetic phonecards from SingTel?

RECENTLY, I decided to clear my collection of old SingTel magnetic phonecards for a refund or exchange in equivalent value from the telco.

However, the company has stopped providing such a service for people who still own these obsolete phonecards.

I am unable to use the cards as the public phones have all been upgraded, and I also cannot get a cash refund or exchange.

Many Singaporeans may have these magnetic cards or have kept them thinking that they are of some monetary value.

SingTel had apparently communicated to the public that the magnetic cards would not be entitled to any refund or exchange after a certain period of time.

I do not recall seeing any advertisement or announcements on this.

These magnetic phonecards were bought from SingTel and I see no reason why it should not give us a refund.

Also, why should the consumers holding magnetic cards be penalised for the upgrading of public phones?

I wonder how many Singaporeans still have these cards, which have no value and are of no use.

If they throw them away, it would be like throwing money away.
