KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: iPod Nano, iPod Touch and Macbook are the best selling items at a shop in Mid Valley Megamall here.

The outlet, which sells a majority of Apple Inc products, is testimony to the increasing demand for electronic gadgets for this year's Christmas.

Its assistant store manager Cheah Syn Hun, said sales of the three items had increased, with iPod Nano topping the list.

"We have sold more than 200 pieces of Nano this month itself.

"Our customer volume has increased by 50 per cent over the last two months. More people are buying more gadgets as Christmas gifts this year compared to last year," he said.

The outlet also sold more than 100 units of iPod Touch and Macbook each during the same period.

Cheah said the prices did not seem to concern customers as Apple had recently reduced the prices of its products.

The iPod Nano is selling at between RM599 ($249) and RM799 ($332), iPod Touch from RM949 ($395) to RM1,629 ($678) and Macbook from RM3,699 ($1550) to RM5,899 ($2460).

For the assistant manager of another outlet, Ong Beng Teong, digital SLR (single-lens reflex) cameras like Canon and Nikon were top buys this holiday season.

"The sales have increased by 20 per cent recently. We now sell about 20 units in a month compared with only 10 previously."

He said other digital cameras were in demand as the prices have gone as low as RM300 ($125).
