The Nokia N81 is a multimedia phone for game players. It supports Nokia's revived N-Gage gaming platform and comes with a huge memory of 8 gigabytes for storing games, music and other multimedia files.
It is optimised for game playing with special game keys above the screen that can be used with navigation buttons below for better control.
Once an N-Gage-platform game is activated, the screen orientation automatically changes form portrait to landscape and N81 feels more like a handheld game device.
The two speakers, mounted on each side of the phone, make the games sound exciting.
Games are beautifully displayed on the
N81's 2.4-inch diagonal screen, which is capable of showing 16.7 million colours at a 320x240-pixel resolution as well as great brightness and sharpness.
Nokia will later sell its N-Gage games via download services.
The N81 is also good for watching video and listening to digital music, thanks to its 3.5mm headphone jack.
An integrated music player supports MP3, WMA, W4A, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+ files, as well as OMA DRM 2.0- and WM DRM-protected songs. And the provided RealPlayer is also onboard with 3GPP and MPEG-4 video playback.
N81 supports both WCDMA 2100 and GSM bands at 850/900/1800/ 1900 MHz. It does not support 3G but it comes with Wi-Fi or wireless LAN connection and a voice-over-IP technology, allowing you to make phone calls via Internet when connected to a wireless LAN.
Nokia N81 measures 102 x 50 x 17.9 mm and weighs 140 grams. It has a suggested retail price of Bt17,180.
